Thinking about switching from MH to LED's. for my 125 gal tank
I would prefer a plug and go fixture.
I saw a Blueline fixture that may be a possibility.

I am seeing that apparently Cree and Bridgelux seem to be a few of the name brands being used.

Is there a big difference of using 1w LEDS vs 3w
(all with the same kelvin rating)

I'm very tempted to get some of the lights being offered on Ebay,as I'm not convinced that LEDS really last 10 years without a spectrum change.
A few are using Bridgelux LEDS

Anyone ever use these lights?

Any imput would be appreciated

IMHO 3 watts are better. The are the new variety and as such are much more efficient. Which means if you pay less for the 1 watt version you will end up eating the savings by spending more electricity.

i've seen the fixtures made with 1 watt led's in a lfs and they don't compair well at all the color and intensity is much better with the crees and theyr slightly more efficent than the ones used in the ecoray fixture. i bought an acan frag that was under an ecoray 90 watt fixture and when i brought it home and put it under my 84 watt cree setup it had twice the color before it was even fully opend
are you the same 1boatnut from jim's boat dock? you should look into a diy kit, it's easier than building an rc boat

i have a fixture using 2W bridgelux leds. No complaints so far. I can't speak for the electricity differences though.

No not the same 1boatnut.
Anyhow, the reason I wanted just a fixture was from everything I've read so far,it seems the only advantage to a diy is you have more options as to color variations, but most spend more then just going out and buying a ready made fixture.

Like I said, with all the new technology,I don't know that I want to spen big $$ on something that will be outdated shortly. If I can spen less with the same or close to the same results I'd rather do that and spent the savings on more stuff for inside the tank
