More Modern Silicone Color

What do people think is the most modern look in terms of silicone color for a rimless tank. Most people have black but is this simply because its easier for cleaning? What a rimless tank the clear does look very nice. I am just not sure if its as modern as the black.
Thanks

I wouldn't consider one to be more modern than other. People have used black silicone within the last few years as its possible now a days. It was never around back in the day for tanks. I personally don't care for the black silicone as it looks like trim to me and clear you don't see as much. Its all preference and wouldn't say one or the other matters

Black really looks classy on a rimless, but it needs to be taped off during assembly to get a very narrow inside seam.

If you do something like a stainless stand, I think black looks great. If you stick with a wooden stand, I prefer clear. But it is just that, an opinion! :)

i chose black silicone for my rimless because its harder to see the coraline that grows on it.... my clear silicone on my older tank is splotchy-purpled everywhere (kind of a distraction)

in the end its just a preference

Black may look good at first and probably does hide coralline but I wouldn't buy one with black silicone myself. My tanks (5,7, and 8 years old ) all have some tearing and jagged edges on the silicone. It's a natural consequence of cleaning and scraping the glass. It's not that noticeable with clear silicone but I suspect it would be with black silicone.

That said I've seen JTL's tank and his silicone seam is so narrow it's almost invisible. His was a custom job and the seams are much cleaner and narrower than most commercially available tanks.

jmo,

I have black silicone on a tank just over a year old and I can see tearing already...
