Some of the paly closeups look grainy, but these are non cropped and it's just the texture of the polyps.

I am terrible at FTS, but here it is. The tank is only about 6 1/2 months old so the sps are still small.

Beautiful shots!!! I am going to try my hand at a few tonight after work, do you have any tips on good settings to try out with the XT & 100mm Lens? I assume you are using a tripod with these?

While your FTS does suck, the Macros are nothing short of amazing. I scrolled top to bottom several times. Excellent work to the finest degree...no really, thank you for sharing. I have no tips on the FTS as you edited out the image Exif, so I have no clue what you did. I don't understand why it is so blurry. What was the shutter speed like? What lens did you use?

Thank you very much!

Tips? Use a tripod, set the timer or use a remote, arp. priority, turn off the pumps, take allot of shots! :D

As far as the fts goes I will get the info for you to check out. I used a crappy 18-55mm lens though on that I know. I only have the two lens.. :)

awesome macros. so camera? you already posted lens so i dont need to ask. :) and yes, tripod works for fts in dim lighting, unless you have tripods for arms... ;)

Eh not a fan of the 18-55 at all. They include it in the box because otherwise it would never leave the shelves. Can you back up far enough to use your 100? Maybe for a partial at least? Take a panoramic!

You can see first hand why we say over and over, "the lens is the most important part in all of this". Now you have the experience to say it yourself. I don't think that was the only factor though, but certainly a major contributor.

Yea I can back up and do a panoramic of the tank with the 100mm. Oh and yes the lens is everything! The 18-55mm stinks!

I am using a rebel xt....

Thanks again!

The pics are truely amazing!! They don't even look real. Or at least don't look like anything from this planet. :D

You should try and get some pics after feeding. I remember a while back someone took a pic after feeding and you could see the cyclopeeze traveling thru the polyp. Pretty cool!

I missed a detail on r2r Dave...

first and foremost on the FTS, you need a tripod, second, you have to be straight on from the tank...

shooting through glass on an angle will distort your pics every time.

as far as the all blue look, I already PMed you on that...im anxious to see how it comes out...

great macros though...love them all
