more than a pair?

the real fishman

BoomBoomClown
in the wild clownfish colony's live in an anemone. the largest clown changes sex becomes the female and mates with the next largest clown while the others hang about in the background waiting their turn. This is my understanding of it.

my question is could you replicate this behaviour buy buying 4-5 clowns placing them in a tank with a suitable anemone without the largest getting to abusive towards the little guys?

i wanted to try this in my new tank. id seen it done in a Portuguese aquarium with a whole colony of ocellaris clowns living quite happily together. but i wanted to try with GSM.

thoughts?

IME/O, this a very bad idea. Our tanks and the ocean are 2 completely different environments. I see one thing happening if you try this, a pair will start to form and they will take out the other 3 -- maroons are very aggressive.
