We are going back out this weekend, the trick is to use a GPS to mark the areas you find "motherloads" They just keep poppin' up!
And, those long/lats would be...? Much like tunafish morels contian high amounts of mercury(who knew right?) so you should prob not eat'em all urself. I am healthy/young enough that I could prob handle eating 3-5lbs so feel free to save urself the health issues and send'em my way. :)

Ahahaha, I'll take my chances with the Mercury. I wish i could get pictures of these big hauls. I have been going out with my dad and uncle and a couple other people, so there's usually 4-5 of us. I'm gonna start looking around here this week and maybe head up north next weekend.

I my spot has not regrew yet, still just the stumps of the ones i picked last time, still moist stumps too. : (

Mmmmmm! Illinois checking in, they're still fresh out there!

The wife, daughter and I went out for a couple of hours last weekend and looked we didn't find any.

What is even worse, we found a field with some woods beside it no fence and no no trespassing signs up, so we stopped to look around, farmer who owns the field apparently owns the woods beside it as well. He comes storming out on an ATV and proceeds to make a case of it.

I informed him that we were just looking for Morels and looked for a no trespassing sign as well, but did not see one.

Now the wife won't go again because see doesn't want someone to get mad at us. So much for my mushroom hunting days! :-(

I had read earlier in this thread "if we could only grow them in our basement".

From the reading I have done this is now possible and they are cultivated for sale, don't know what is involved, however, might be worthwhile for someone who has a large wood area on their land to look into.

found about 30 greys,2 yellows, and about 50 half free morels in the northeast part of the state today whoo hooo. i have never found half free morels before today, they were everywhere(long stem with a small cap). going out again tomorrow. for all morel hunters out there remember,if it ain't hollow, don't swallow!!! all true morels are hollow when you cut them down the middle.

Probably because you live in a forest and have those things growing a few feet from the door if I had to guess! ;)

Dude that is nothing! About 10 years ago me and 4 friends were hunting morals and we were in a farmers timber and same scenerio as yours but we were split up in two groups. Me and my best friend in one and the others in the second. They got caught crossing this small field and we were in the edge of the timber laughing our a$$es off then we saw the farmer had a hand gun and a cell phone. Needless to say we were not laughing anymore. It looked like it was geting out of hand so I decided to walk up there and straighten it out. When I got there the old farmer was steaming mad pointing his gun in everyones faces. I told my friends to get in the truck and the farmer said freeze I informed him that he was a lunatic and that he was not going to shoot 5 unarmed teenagers for tress pass and get away with it and that when the cops got there that more than likely he would be in trobble for pointing the gun in our faces. I was only 19 at the time and quite the hot head so I'm sure that I said all this with fire in my eyes and absolutely no fear of his fire arm. Then I told mt friends to get back in the truck and this time the old man lowered his gun and we left. So don't get's a little crazy!

So while at work today, my gf found 4! I know only four, but I just ate my half of em and they were delicious! Guess I broke the seal, now it should be ez!

Ha Ha! You've been to my forest. Shhhhhhh! Now everyone will want to visit my tank. Yeah, right the tank! Good to hear from 'ya, John

thats big but there is no way that thing is even close to 5 pounds. we found a good amount of them yesterday and some were good sized.the bag weighed just under 4 pounds. if i had to guess,i would have to say that it weighed about a pound!!

just thought that i would ad to this post. i live in northern michigan and this year has been really great the cool weather has really prolonged the season for us. as of today me and my wife have found over 4000 blacks and about 500 or so whites. today was the first day that i went out to target the whites and like i said we found around 500 in 2 hours!!!!! got to love morels and the best part is that the resorts around northern michigan buy all my extras for 20 to 40 dollars a pound so then i get to go to lfs and buy more corals. now that is what i call a good day eating morels and walleye then going to the lfs and getting new goodies.
