Nice find. It is nice to see the eagles are starting to make a comeback and people are seeing them a little more widespread.

these eagle are in springwater. for a long time they were the only nesting pair in new york state ( i think). there are two or three pairs nesting on hemlock lake now.

there were some nesting north of Saranac Lake/ Paul Smith College a few years back, but it is uncommon until recently to see them nesting in more "populated" areas.

yeah I was going to paul smiths at that time and they wouldn't let anyone with in .5 mile of the nest I remember checking them with a spotting scope. definately doesn't compare to that sighting though!! that definately makes your day (@ least it would mine)

I saw one sitting on a big dead tree in the middle of I87 about a month ago, down around exit 30. It was am inmature eagle (still had the brown head), but before you say it, yes i'm sure it was an eagle. My dad and I used to do a lot of camping when I was younger and I became very good at spotting the differences between say an osprey or a hawk, or in this case an eagle. They really are magnificent birds.

Great find, and nice thinking to snap the pics.
