Most Accurate Thermometer

What is the most accurate thermometer out there to monitor my new reef tanks temperature? I dont want something that is off by 3 degrees, something within 0.5 degrees would be good. I want to make sure my tanks tempature is accurate and not off by several degrees!

The old school glass thermometers

Just going off of what they sell on McMaster -- most glass thermometers are +/- 2°F

Although here's one that is good to +/-1°F for ~$18:

I was just looking today for a good digital one myself for calibration purposes. Here's a water-resistant digital one at +/-1°F (~$30):

The best I could find was this one at +/-0.4° (for ~$60), but the form factor wasn't exactly what I was looking for (this one is a little long, but would probably work):

If you're looking for something to monitor temperature on an ongoing basis, you might want to check out the heater review section on BRS's 52 weeks of reeking:

Some of the heaters they tested maintain the temperature very very precisely in a narrow band, though the accuracy may be off (which you can calibrate with one of the thermometers above).

Also of course an aquarium controller, like Apex, with a built in temperature sensor (which again will need to be calibrated)

I would like something to monitor at glance on a ongoing basis. Also going to need something to calibrate my two Eheim Jagers to make sure they heat the tank up to my accurate desired tempature.

Something like this might be good if you want constant monitoring, but it's only good to +/-2° (found this on another reefcentral thread):

Here's one that says it's +/-1°. Quite a few more options at that accuracy range. It says "Stainless-steel probe is resistant to most acids, bases and solvents" - but I'm a little wary of stainless in salt water:

I'm thinking of doing something like this at +/-0.4°. The products start to get pretty sparse and very expensive for anything much more accurate than this:

Get an Inkbird. It'll keep your temp controlled. They're only $45 on Amazon.

Would i just plug in a power strip into the inkbird for a extra heater as i have two? And also does the Inkbird require calibration from another thermometer?

I'm not sure the pinpoint accuracy will matter as long as the thermometer is consistent, since ultimately that's what one should strive for.

Inkbird does not require calibration, and I would assume you could safely plug in a small strip, like a two-outlet. That's all you would need anyway.
