Today I caught one of my newer clean shrimp feasting on my oldest scarlet hermit crab while it was still alive. I thought cleaner shrimps are not predatory animals. It was quite a sight since the hermit was still alive and struggling while half of its body was gone and the shrimp was slowly picking away rest of him.
I stopped it right away but couldn't bring myself to crush the hermit for a quick death. However, He didn't last too long after that. Apparently he just molted and somehow was caught outside of shell or got pulled out.
Anyway I am wondering where do you guys find larger shell for these scarlet hermits. All mine come with long screw shaped shells but I can't find similar ones at LFS.
