Most Efficient Return Pump?

You really want the water flowing through the sump at a minimum. Make the flow inside the display with power heads and your wavemaker. I have my 1190 gph pump gated back by around 30% to keep from running so much through my sump. You could call premium aquatics to get a recommendation on the model to buy. They also use the Panmorld pumps on thier systems. They are really nice people and very helpful.

Ahh I see. So I could be running too much water through my sump. Didn't know that could happen. I don't need any more currents in my tank so I will take your advice. The MP40W is enough to circulate water.

See you learn something new everyday.

The slower the water flows through the sum/fuge, the more time the skimmer, live rock, and macro algae have to remove the gunk. All you need is enough flow to run your overflow to where the water level is above the viewing panel edge. Let your powerheads and wavemaker produce all the flow in the tank.

If you run it through too fast, the skimmer and macro algae's don't have time to do thier job before the water goes back to the display.

wow good to know. i will call them up and see what would be the best pump for my tank cause i figure the less i have to pump the cheaper the electric bill.

The pumps really don't cost that much to run. There is a calculator on the Main RC page that will tell you exactly the cost each month.

The pump you noted would cost you .33 a month to run. My pump shows .73 to run each month.

You want cost savings put in solar hot water at your house lol. My usage went from 2576 kwh 2 months ago to just over 1400 kwh last month, to 896 kwh this month. That is some real savings there.
