Most Underrated/Overrated Fish?

Just as the title says, in your reckoning, what is the most underrated, and under represented fish in this hobby, and what is the most undeserving of all the hype it receives, in your opinion?
As far *the* most underrated and under appreciated fish in SW aquaria would have to be the possum wrasses. Very interesting, attractive, and docile (sometimes to a fault) fish, not to mention nearly bullet proof given the right tank-mates. I currently keep a Tanaka's (Wetmorella tanakai), and I would highly recommend this species, along with the others of it's genus, as long as your tank isn't loaded with overly belligerent or aggressive fish...

Now for the award for the most OVER hyped fish IMHO... and I know I'm gonna get flack for this... the flame wrasse (Cirrhilabrus jordani). I know, I know, they've got the bright red and orange, and they're supposedly the only fairy wrasse hailing from Hawaii, but they just don't do it for me. To me anyways, they just don't stand out among all the other red fairy/flasher wrasses out there, and their price tag, especially for a good looking male, is $300+. I'd much prefer a nice looking solon fairy or a McCosker's flasher to a flame, and for a tenth of the price... Let the wrASSe men attack :worried:

I have 4 flame wrasses, however I respect your opinion on them.

I don't know what I find underrated. But I do find designer clowns as overrated. I had a pair of designer clowns, hoping they'd host my bta. Come to find out, they were not active at all. They hung around the back. My cheap oscellaris pair were more outgoing and active at a fraction of the price

Having kept several pairs of clowns throughout the years, some being captive bred, "designer" types, while others being wild caught, I can confidently state I have had *much* better luck with the wild caught specimens, as long as they were quarantined of course. Aggression, deformities, and as you as said, having them just sort of hover in one corner, was all far more prevalent in the CB clowns. Having said that, I currently have a mixed pair of perculas, with the large female being wild caught, and the male being a CB "platinum", and the female is far more intelligent acting, without a doubt more docile, and overall just has healthier looking finnage and a less "scrunched up" looking face, which I have found to be extremely common in CB clowns. Having the two side by side 99.9% of the time really displays the inherent differences. I'm all for captive, sustainable breeding of fish, and loosening the strain on wild populations, but I do believe that a lot of malpractice and inbreeding takes place, especially in the designer clowns (super thawed frostbite radioactive long fin ). I do love 'Zero' the platinum clown though, and decided to get him partly due to the fact that I felt my female needed a friend, and partly due to the kOoOoL factor of having an all white clown for people to ogle at :o

Designer clowns get my vote for most overrated. Don't get me wrong some are neat and I love my plain vanilla True Perc pair, but they really don't do much other than wiggle and look orange and beg for food.

I'd say wrasses in general are the most underrated. They have tremendous personalities are are stunningly gorgeous. I got home from work tonight and after feeding him, my Linespot Wrasse decided to put on an extended flashing session....amazing!
