I have finally been able to remove one fish from 500 g DT A tang Scopas. He has ick I placed him in same tank water for now in a 20 g tank with a heater and a couple of pvc pieces of piping. what is best approach to medicate and nurse him back to good health and back to DT.. What meds should I use dosage etc.. Any help is appreciated. I think he has ich or and ???

Thanks Maaka. The thread is informative but does not elaborate on the tank transfer method , any other links for that method? I have garlic extract & selcon should I soak the food in that or is there something better I can buy Thanks for your help

E. In my 500g tank it is impossible to catch the fish in between 1200lbs of rocks. I have four fish that I had a while and they seem to resit getting ich. I will be watching while treating the fish I got out. I have one more cardinal fish that may have to come out as it is a new fish that I stupidly did not quarantine. Cannot catch him. Any help with my question on the tank transfer method is appreciated.

Just know that the parasite is in the tank, one day you will have another outbreak. Tangs are extremely susceptible and in this case likely acting as the canary in the coal mine.

E. I now know from my rdg on RC that the parasite is in my Dt and I am hoping that if my original finish do not get any ich on their body (hoping) that thne in 10 weeks after no signs of outbreak on my four fish that my Dt will be OK (I hope again) Thanks for your input

after moving the tang from the DT had him in three tanks over a period of ten days. Plan is to move him into an observation tank where he will be housed till DT shows no ich for 75 days. Tang looks good and eating well after hardly eating at all in the DT. Hoping for the best.

I am glad the tang is doing better. The DT not showing ich for 75 days will not do anything for you if the tank has fish in it. I am curious what the 75 days is intended to buy you?

My 500g newly setup DT has five fish in it that have been with me for a while in a smaller tank. Cannot catch the fish from the 1200lbs of rock. I either do not introduce any more fish in a 500g DT anymore and see what happens to my 5 fish or I thought that if fish do not get ich in DT then the parasite dies within 8 weeks or so or in about 56 days. So I am electing the 75 days as a safer time frame (I thought). Any suggestions are welcome other than trap the fish and move them out as this will cause a major disruption/damage and possible more harm to my tank. Anything that I can do in DT without harming corals or inverts??
Here is a picture of why I do not wish to disturb all of the corals & rock

I had the same problem and tried Adrock reef safe ich treatment on my 300gal reef. I built my reef much higher than your so it was impossible to catch any fish. Clowns were not a problem, super easy to catch but no one else.

Thanks Louis... Ich gone long time ago... Manged to get fish out and did the QT using changing tanks every 3-4 days
