Went from a 175 where he was 34" from 250 DE on the sand bed to my new 450 where he is about 34 " from a 400 SE

Nothing around him bothering him. Moved him with no exposure to air. He has been in the tank for about 4 weeks now

My worry is his mantle just isnt coming out as it used to. I have had him for over 2 years and has always been very very healthy

Here are pics, any ideas?

its getting a lot more light then its used to. shade it for a week or so, the slowly give it more light

tank is 8 weeks old but I transfered everything from my 175. I may try to shade it for a bit and see if that helps, Ihave a slight cave I can him in for a bit.

My last light in my 6" tank was 3x250 DE and 2x150 DE MH, this tank is 4 x400 SE so light is about the same I think

that's an extra 600W and those 400's really penetrate the water. ( i think there good to like 4' )

something is stressing him, could be a combination of the move, the extra light, a new tank mate or fluctuations in your water parameters. all you can do is try to ease the stress, maybe decrease your photoperiod or find him a little shade. maybe run some carbon if your not. i keep a dersa under 10k 400w halides and he has no problems but i acclimated him to it slowly.

does he react well to shadows?
