Moving 8" porcupine puffer

So I go to school in San Diego and have had to leave my fish at home for my family to take care of. My friend is giving me a bigger tank which the puffer could definitely use so I want to move my puffer to it but it is a 10 hour drive.
How could I move this guy without killing him? Is it possible to get him on the plane or what do you think of shipping him?

I think building a mobile life support system would be best and then drive him. Maybe a rubbermaid bin with a hole for airline tubing and a heater cord. Get a power inverter from radio shack to be able to plug in the heater and pump in the car. Once the tubing and heater cord are in, silicone the hole shut. Then drill a small hole on top of the lid for releasing air pressure from the air pump.

Get a 20 gal trash can. Fill it half way and leave the rest for splashing room even though you will have a lid on it. Drive slow around turns and bumps to keep the splashes to a minimum.

Also, on the trash can idea, if you buy a brute trash can, its kind of like paying insurance that the can wont collapse under the load of the water when it is swishing around in the car. They are like $30 at home depot.

You can also try one of your local fish stores. See if they have a extra stiro. box & put the puffer in there. Double or tripple bag the guy & he should be fine. When they are shipped from the collectors/dirstributors/etc they can be inside these stiro boxes for a LOT longer then 10 hrs.
