Moving a anemone?

Yeah I know, GBTA's can pose a threat in a reef tank, but I had this guy for 8-9mos maybe, and he stayed put more or less and he doubled in size during that time to about 8" dia...
then for whatever reason it recently split...

Now both pieces are wandering about like crazy (why?)
also any tips on removing them from rock w/o damage?

off subject but what the heck kinda brain is that he'sunder (that thing has grown also, I'd hate to loose it)

I've had numerous nems and some will stay put for ever others will not its weird. Usually after a split they will move around though to find a new spot. I've sometimes had luck moving RBTA back to its original spot by adding a rock with a hole big enough for its foot to go in. Usually they like there base to be inside a hole protected.

As for removing them be careful not to tear the foot. You can use a corner of a credit card to get under it a little and once you have a piece under just gently use your finger to coax it off the rest of the way. You can also turn the rock or piece they are attached upside down and try to use gravity to help with getting them off. I have held the rock out of the water with the nem just below the surface or slightly out of the surface and card or finger to get under and the weight of itself will peel it off the object. Good luck. I have even had to go so far in breaking the rock in half with a chisel before. Have fun
