Moving a clam

musty baby

New member
I have a crocea and I'd like to move it off of a large, flat rock. It is, of course, attached. Just wondered if there was any way to coax it toward unattaching itself. I definitely don't want to hurt the clam, just would like to move it (if possible).

Sometimes moving them around can stress them out as they are usually more happy being still if you know what I mean. If you really must move him, slightly tilt him and look for the byssus threads that attach him. With a very sharp blade carefully cut the threads near the rock, not near the clam, and that should detach him safely.

Just start moving it from side to side slowly and it will release it self after a few minutes

that can seriously hurt the clam, rob2005 has the right idea.
