last week i put a bta into my tank and it seemed to be pretty happy....well in the past two hours or so its moved from where it had been to the back of the tank under the rocks. the color looks great, the mouth looks great. Its a 30gallon tank with 192 watts of PC lighting.

SG-1.025
PH-8.2
nitrite-0
ammonia-0
nitrate-10
temp-78

The only thing i can think of is this morning when i ran some test my calcium was under 400 so i mixed up some kalkwasser and strarted dripping it about 4pm (1 drop about every 5 seconds) I also did a 4 gallon water change right before i started dripping the kalk.

Could the anemone be unhappy about the kalk?

Your tank parameters look good other than detectable nitrate, but I doubt 10 would be an issue for a BTA (assuming the test kit is correct). Also, Ca of slightly below 400 would not be an issue for an anemone. Could another inhabitant be irritating it? You only put it in the tank a week ago, so it's not that unusual that it would wander. It can take an anemone weeks to acclimate to a tank. To answer your question about the kalk, unfortunately I don't know if that could be irritating it. I would expect if done properly that would not be a problem for your anemone.

Well, as you might already know, an overly enthusiatic clownfish can be a big problem for an anemone. The rule of thumb on that is, the anemone should be 3 times as wide across as the fish is long. If that's not more or less the case, then you should separate them.

this was a few hours after acclimating and adding to the tank...I think the bta is big enough to handle the clownfish...but then again thinking usually gets me in trouble

I think you're right, that BTA should be able to deal witht he anemone in terms of its size. It's a nice looking BTA, BTW.

From what I under stand the anemone thinks the clown is part of them almost as of it was another limb or something..

I hope it comes out for you, my BTA got lost in the rock work when I put it in my tank and only comes out once in a blue moon :(

My BTA moved on me last weekend. I had turned the MH lights off for a few days while working on the tank. He's searching for stronger light. Now I can only turn my light back on on the side I want him to move back to. A long process toget them back. I have had my BTA for 8 years in 3 different tanks. Still doing well. Good luck!
