hey guys , i have a 4 months old 30 g tank with nothing left in it but a clown fish , ich killed my fish one by one i decided to start all over again and bought a new 75 g tank , by moving the live rock from the old tank to the new one can avoid starting the cycle all over again and waiting one month and would it bring the ich to the new tank ? to cut it short i want to avoid cycling the tank and also avoid the ich being transferred from the old tank to the new one , is it possible ? thanks in advance

Yes, the rock most likely has cysts on it and the new tank needs to be left fishless fo 10 plus weeks. The clownfish will need to be medicated as well (copper).

If you do not wish to wait the ten weeks and aren't too attached to the lr, you can bleach it and start over with instant ocean bio spira.

You can move your rock to the new tank, but you'll need to put the Clown in a hospital tank and be prepared to treat it with any one of the methods contained in stickies at the top of this forum. After your rock cycles in the new tank for a minimum of ten weeks (twelve preferred), your Clown should be cured and ready to move.

Yes the ich will move with the rock, but will survive if the fish is moved with also. Bio spira eliminates the ugliness and long wait with raw shrimp and if timed right will allow you to return the treated clown back sooner. Just drying rock will not kill all ich, biocide should be used. 1 cup bleach per gallon of water, rinse, air dry a week, good to go again.

i was thinking of boiling the live rock so it would eliminate any form of life on it , but would my clown survive without live rock until my new tank cycles ?

If you add the amount of time to treat the clown with copper/hypo/TT, and then an observation period, your going to be close to the 10 weeks fallow anyway. Why nuke the rock?
Having done this once, 10 weeks sounds like a whole lot more time than it actually feels like... Its also a great time to be able to work on pests in your DT which we all tend to have. Your nutrients will be low, and killing off any aiptasia and algea will be easier. You'll also give the tank time to build up healthy populations of beneficial organisms.
Either method should work, but I chose the later... cycling a tank is just waiting. If you choose fallow you still have a tank to work on, and the added benefit of it being a "stronger" cleaner tank.

Never do this. Look up palytoxin, which amongst other things, can be released when doing something like this. Also consider that the rock will likely not be able to handle the pressure of boiling rock in the crevices. If you meant "cooking" not boiling, then never mind.

As for you clown, read up on how to manage ammonia in a QT tank.. there are some stickies at the top... one of which is how to setup a QT.

Be carefull boiling liverock, if any zoanthids are present you can get very sick.
Quarantine tanks should not have any lr, but will need an established bio filter. If non is present in the dt you can pick up a power filter or sponge filter with air pump and use the bio spira to seed it.

okay so what should i do to kill the ick from the live rock other than waiting 10 weeks , its not about being impatient its just that i have a brand new tank and im gonna use it , the old is gonna be teared down i wont be using it anymore i already have another tank whoch will be used as a QT , i want to benefit from the old one as much as i can so i want any solution so i could the old live rock to cycle my new tank without tranferring the ich , thank you guys for the great suggestions really appreciate it i could only wish that you endure my stupid questions and remember back when you were a complete newbie and the whole thing was so exciting

If you put your rock in the new tank and leave it without a fish for ten to twelve weeks, the life cycle of Ich will be permanently interrupted. Whether the fallow period is conducted in the old tank or the new one doesn't make any difference. The essential detail is no fish.
