Moving livestock from old tank to new

I got my 180 all setup with the proper temperture and salinity.
I assume that since my live rock has been established for a few years in the old tank, i can move the live rock over to the new tank and that will give me all the bacteria i need to break down amonia and nitries. It's about 100lbs - i plan to add more of course.

so i'm gonna add live rock and fish tonight...maybe some softies, unless someone thinks it's a bad idea?

PS. I will move the hard corals when i got the calcium and alkalinity to the proper levels.

thanks

When I've done these kinds of upgrades I add the extra rock and sand to the new tank and let it cycle for a few months. When I feel the new rock is cycled and free of unwanted stuff I'll then do the swap (no reason to hurry, right?)

Did you at least add any old sand, rock water in it yet? Thats like starting off fresh if you didnt keep any of the old sand or water.

If you didnt, then Id to what golfish said.

test your water.. i dont see a problem adding livestock.. but i would wait a couple days for the tank to clear up as it may be pretty cloudy with debris...
