Moving my tank (and myself) Memorial day weekend

Hello fellow Delaware Reef-keepers.

I'll be moving - yet again - into a new house on May 28th- 29th.

If a small miracle happens, and the current residents are out early on the 28th, I will move the tank on the 28th, otherwise - just to keep the number of people moving in and out of the house to a minimum - I plan on moving the tank on the 29th - Memorial day :(.

So - If anyone is looking for something to do on the 29th (Memorial day) I'll be moving my tank and looking for some extra hands and extra buckets to quickly transfer everything from my current house (just off of Main Street on Washington Street - behind the Newark Public Library) to the new place (about 2-blocks down Main street - on Choate Street, near Klondike Kate's)

Soda, beer, hambergers, hot dogs - all of the standard "moving-day" treats will be available.

Four people have already volunteered to help (depending on the day of course :( ) and I welcome any and all help that I can get - if there's too many people, well you can always grab an extra box laying around, if there are any left - or just have a beer and direct traffic  With any luck we will have most of the moving done already, and most of the day can be enjoyed grilling, soaking in the sun, and discussing reef-stuff if you desire.

If you do volunteer to help - please list how many extra buckets (or coolers/ containers) you will be bringing - so I will know if I need to go to NT's to borrow a few buckets (they've always been there for me when I've needed extra buckets for moving  )

I've moved tanks quite a few times - actually many more times than anyone should in a lifetime  so I've got the procedure down pretty well - but any tips or suggestions are welcome just to help those looking to move a tank in the future.

questions? comments? snyde remarks?

i should be able to help but i have to run it by Barb first. i have 2 50 quart coolers with wheels that you can use even if Barb says i cant come out and play:). and i have 5 or 6 buckets also.

buckets will work great - the pieces of rock that I have will fit perfectly in the 5-gallon variety - and with a few people, it will be a very simple operation -everyone grabs a 1/2-full bucket and rides on over

- no temperature worries due to the close proximity of the next domicile :smokin:

I have BBB (Big Blue Bucket). It is made for ice and sodas, I think. We can either, a) move you in it OR b) use it to move tank stuff. I originally used it for picnics, but now use it for tank stuff. I wouldn't use it again for people stuff as that would be gross, yes.

Nick, I can help either day. I've got lots of buckets, coolers too, . will the tank fit your SUV. if not . my old burb hauls anything.

Like i told you in PM - I'll be avaliable with my "BFT" (big .... truck)

I can bring 3 or 4 5gal buckets too if need be, and can get clean coolers if needed.

Hey Nick, what time on either day? I have the two five gallon buckets you gave me...ironic isn't it? Plus you know I have an old Suburban too.

tank will fit in my EsuVee - although the buckets might get a better ride in there - 8 buckets would be a good tight fit.

I stopped by the new place today and got confimation that we can move-in on the 29th from the last roomate.

I'll have a 30-gallon container of pre-mixed saltwater ready at the new place, so the other 30-gallons of rocks and water can be split-up among the buckets

then: pour out - drive - pour back in

then sit back and relax!
