moving sand?

whats the best way to move 20lbs of sand from 1 tank to a bigger tank? the smaller tank has only been set up for 2 months its a 20 gallon tall with 3 shifting snails.

Siphon it into a bucket then scoop into new tank.

I did it with a sand bed in a 3 month old tank and the algae bloom on the sand after the move was brutal. I swore that would be the last time I moved sand. I didn't lose any fish because of it.
