i am about to move 2 starfish a brittle and a serpent. Last time i moved my brittle i just picked it up and put it in a bucket and then used the drip method for 2 hours, then put him in tank. Poor guy lost arms and etc.. i barely got him back to normal. Whats the best way to move these guys? What did i do wrong? R serpents the same?

this is similar to my post about my new red serpent...did 1.5 hour drip acclimation, but he is lifeless, and one arm broken, and I think the tip of another is off....wish i had the answer for us both

I usually just pick'em up, but you do have to be a bit careful, they're not called brittle for nothing. As far as acclimation is concerned long drip acclimation is recommended.

Did you test the water that it was in and the water in the vessel it was being moved into prior to acclimation, and then verify that atleast the SG and PH was a match prior to moving the animal into the new tank?

everything was the same.. ph,amm, trite, trate,sg. Bout to move both of them into my new 80< so i was wondering if there was any other ways peeps are doing it lol feel bad when there legs fall off) Come to think of it trates might have been different but not by much.

The main things are SG, PH, and Temp. Their legs are designed to fall off to escape predators. It probably doesnt even hurt.

well that makes me feel better) lol thanks for the replys! I thought they only lost legs when they were gonna die or something was really wrong with them.
