Moving tank....will it cycle?

As I mentioned in some previous posts, I am moving my tank this weekend to coincide with my new RO/DI unit. Right now I have the fish and most of the rock in a spare tank filled with about half of the main tank water and half new water, but its still tap water. The rest of the rock is in a bucket. I will be replacing the sand and seeding it with some of what I have in another bucket. Was wondering if when I set up the tank again, will I go through any cycle? Either before or after I put in the rock? The rock has been in the tank for almost 2 years. I was just going to fill it and move all the livestock back in, but am unsure if this is wise. I wanted to do a 100% water change when I moved it because I just got my RO/DI and would like it that to be the water, but someone else said I should use some from the tank now, which like I said was tap water. So I have a 20g tank holding that water now. Obviously I don't want anything to die, so that's why I am asking.

you should be ok. wouldn't sweat the cycle too much even with replacing the sand. your rock and water flow should be good especially if it's been in there for over 2 years.

as for the 100% water change, i wouldn't do that. i would do a nice change after everything is moved but maybe 30% tops imo. then just continue on doing weekly water changes with the new ro/di, and you should be good.

Keep the LR in the bucket with a powerhead to help oxygenate the water. This will allow the bacteria on the LR to survive longer periods and prevents die-off of other lifeforms too.
