Moving Tanks

I will be moving 2 tanks, 45 and 75 gallon. How empty do they need to be before the move. I am only hand moving them, not a big move. Can I empty them down to sand or do I need to take the sand and rock out too.

I've done this quite a few times and it works out fine. Just make sure you do a decent sized water chance once its re setup to remove any detrus stirred up by the move.
