Moving Zoo

I bought a couple of zoo's for my reef tank. They came, of course, already attached to a piece of LR. Is there a way to move them to the LR that I already have?

Thanks! :)

take a razor blade to the bottom of the mat and scrap it off. Then simply glue the zoas down to the new rock. Will the rock that they came on not work with your aquascaping? If it does just place it so that the zoas will spread onto the rock that you want them on Ben

Here is a pic of one of them! :)

Well, since my tank is only 12g, I do not want to add even more LR. It is perfect as is without the additional rock. But, since I don't trust myself to do a good job of removing them like you explained, I will just let them be. LOL

Thanks! :)

You could always try the hammer and chisel method. Just take the rock out of the water, set it on a towel on the floor, hammer and chisel away.

Huh? LOL

If I were to do that, I am sure I would smash them.

I think I am better off leaving them as they are. :)

Smash them??? No. Set the chisel about a 1/2" away from the base of the polyp and tap it a medium shot, first, then reset the chisel on the mark you just made, cause the chisel will bounce up off the rock. Hit the chisel with the hammer a little harder each time. I've done this dozens of times. It will work.

You can practice chipping and breaking rocks using regular rocks from outside, but most rock from the water will breakup much easier.

Ok, I might try that since I have a couple of LR pieces that I didin't use.

How do I 'glue' the rock fragments to the spot I want them to be? Or rather, what adhesive would I use?

Thanks. :)

I use super glue gel for glueing things to small rock fragments...If your going to glue large peices of rock or colonies then use 2 part epoxy.

The chisels that I use are cheap wood chisels that can be bought for a couple bucks from places like Harbor Freight.
