moving

We are most likely going to move to el paso TX in the next few months or less. I don't want to sell my A. Chrysopterus or Purple M. Doreensis. Has anyone ever moved an anemone to another city? Did the trip affect the health of the anemone at all? It is a 7 hour drive to El Paso from here.
I think I already know what to do for the fish but I'm not sure how to move an anemone. There is also the problem of getting the anemone out of the tank without damaging its foot. Is this possible or would I be wasting my time and should sell the anemone with all my other live stock? TIA:)

I think you will be able to do it with no issues, if you take your time. :)

First question, are you moving your stuff, and the tanks in the same day?

I am guessing that Texas will still be pretty warm in a couple of months, so you won't have to worry about the moving water getting too cold. Could put both the anemone and the clowns in a 5 gallon bucket, a battery operated airstone would be nice to have.

Out of all the anemone I have had, I have found LTAs the easiest to remove from tank, so that shouldn't be an issue at all.

You could get a cheap rubbermaid tote and put them in it with a power head and bacteria-soaked HOB Filter. bring your light as well. I think you could get away with that for a day or two while you setup your tank. The thing id be worried about is temps and ORP.

I moved alot in the army. You'll be fine. Get some battery operated air pumps, extra batteries just in case, and attempt to take as much of the water/sand/lr you can so that you dont have 120g of new water. Just watch water conditions on the recieving end.

I've done multiple 12hr-14hr drives this way.

Lets us know how it turns out.

Yeah, we are only taking the 56 gallon and maybe 29qt with us. I figure the 56g should be enough room for two chrysopterus and an LTA. We will bring all the live rock, half of the live sand from the 120g, and all macro algae with us. Yes Toddrtrex, we want to move every thing in one day, as fast as possible. I can keep all the salt water from the 56 gallon in five gallon bottles. Yeah that will be 11 bottles of salt water..whew.. :p.
So what do you do to the lta to get it out of the tank its in..changing conditions in the tank might make it retract under the sand..so do you get its foot to release slowly by touching its foot with a credit card?..I don't know:(...trying to get as much info as possible before the day we move.

Think you will be pressed for time with moving the tanks, and all your household stuff in one day -- though maybe I am a slow mover, I know that I wasn't able to do it. Did each tank on its own day when I moved. One thing that I want to stress, is to make sure that you have extra water ready, and more then what you think you will need. Not sure what happens when moving, but it seems like water just disappears.

Oh, the LTA will most likely retract into the sand, happened to me when I sold mine. But, I just dug under the sand with my hand. Was pretty easy to get its foot to release from the glass. The one thing I don't like about using a credit card is that there is no feel with one of those. Meaning you can't feel if you are damaging the foot at all, that is why I prefer to use my fingers. Compared to getting a Haddoni to release its foot, getting an LTA to do that is a piece of cake.

Oh, not a problem, we are having movers come in and move all our stuff. So, all we have to worry about is the fish tanks and our five fuzzy pets.

Ahhh, okay, that will make a huge difference --- my last move was me, friends, family, and a U-haul.

One thing you might want to consider, is having a small tank that you can put the clowns/anemone in while you are putting the main tank back together. That way you could plug in a heater, powerhead, and maybe a HOB filter. Then you will be able to take your time setting the main tank back up. I know that it took me a long time to get the rocks back in -- in a way that I liked.

I would try uncovering the foot and shooting a powerhead at it or touching it with an ice cube first. You really dont want to scrape it unless its a last resort as it is very easy to damage the foot. I'm betting if you uncover the foot the night before and change the flow pattern in the tank he will let go on his own.

Does anyone here knows what I should do to my anemony because, I bought it yesterday and since I got it, it went to the middle of two rocks and it is hiding in there. I moved the rock and took it out just to have it go to the same place in less than 1 minute (it took me more to move it than for it move back).
Do you think that she is sick? I did not quarentine it : - (
There is not too much light on the spot she is in and not as much water flow. Should Iput a power head directed to it? thanks

I would stop messing with it..sounds like you have a bta..btas will keep moving till they find a spot where they are happy. Show us your tank parameters..How long has your tank been up and running? Can you show us a picture?
