MP10 wes Suddenly Very Loud

Hi, I purchased a pair of these pumps used off of a local forum. I set them up a couple of days ago and everything was great. When I woke up this morning one of the pumps was making a very loud noise (I could hear it upstairs). I tried aligning the 2 sides, but it didn't really make a difference. It is not so much a vibration noise, but just the regular whirring, but really loud.
As I am new to the pumps I am hoping this is an easy fix, any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Jeff

portsie,

Have you disassembled and cleaned the wetside? Generally when experiencing noise issues, a good wetside cleaning will resolve the issue!

Thanks for the quick reply Alex. I actually gave them a very thorough cleaning before placing them in my tank. The person I bought them off of had left some buildup on them so I soaked the wetside in a light vinegar solution for a couple of hours, disassembled them, and lightly scrubbed with a toothbrush. Like I said above, they worked great for about 48 hours, and then, all of sudden one is really loud. I can try disassembling them again when I get home from work, but they have only been running in the tank for a couple days.

Hi Alex, When I got home from work I went straight to the tank to remove the wet side for inspection. As I was pulling the wet side out, I saw a very small snail fall off and drift to the bottom of the tank. Fired the pump back up, and problem solved. I feel stupid for even bothering you with the question now, but thank you very much for the prompt reply!!

Jeff
