MP40 External Dimensions

The ecotech website says the dry side of a mp40 is 3"x2.25". Is 2.25" the length off the tank or the diameter? I am trying to figure out how much space I need behind the tank.

I know the website says 3", but I've only got 2.5"

My mp40 measures 2.5" and is set on 3/8 glass. I think it all depends on the glass thickness and were the pin spacer is set. Hope this helps.

Is that bc there are different spacers? I had one like 4yrs ago and can't remember

The MP 40 has a pin space that you pull off of the dry side and rotate it for your glass thickness

You will need at least 3 inches behind your aquarium to fit an MP40 dryside.

I know there is the adjustable spacer, but I didn't know that could take up .75".

My glass is either 1/4" or 3/8"..........I'm leaning towards 3/8", it's a 54 corner bowfront.

You will need the additional air gap for proper cooling of the dryside.
