Unfortunately I don't think that you will have much luck with them sticking to a 3/4 gap. They would recommend you use a mp60.
I have a new mp40qd that falls off of 1/2 glass, and yet an mp 10 that holds onto it. I think it comes down to each individual magnet and how well it was made.
I was trying to tell you that I have an mp40 that doesn't stick to 1/2" glass even though it is advertised to do so, meaning that the threshold for thickness is right at 1/2". You'd be hard pressed to get yours to stick to 3/4.
I just didn't want to post a simple "no" answer without giving some explanation and insight.
I currently have 2 MP40's on a 3/4" acrylic tank wall for the last 10 years with no issues. The key is to have the power cord securely tied down above the dryside.

I think that the older vortech pumps had stronger dryside magnets, my mp10s are over 10 years old and they can stick to thicker surfaces. Even if you secure the dryside of the new ones the wetside will always fall off.
I cannot disagree since I do not own the latest model, but I have heard the same complaint since the original release and I have never had a problem with the two previous models. I have owned up to four MP40’s at the same time and each one has go through multiple replacements/upgrades and they have all worked on my tank.
