I have 2 MP40Ws and an MP10

One of the MP40Ws has gotten a lot louder, like vibration and no amount of adjusting seems to fix it so pulled it and found a lot of play in the shatf. So went to the website and looked at the repair kit but it is different, like my driveshaft is 3 times longer and the prop is shorter?

Are these interchangeable? Is it from a later model?

Also, is there a trick to removing the housing? These are a b*tch to get off and one day I will break one which won't be cool at all....

Thx!

It's possible that you have our first generation wetside which has a few different parts. In order to upgrade, (aside from the magnet, if desired) you'll want to purchase a new maintenance kit as well as awet frame cover.

Also- if you are having difficulty disassembling the wetside, try soaking it in vinegar overnight which should help to remove any calcification or algae.

Thanks but what does the upgrade get me? And the older wetside can't be repaired anymore? I.e. is unsupported?

The upgrade will get you the most up-to-date products used on our second generation MP40 wetsides. The older wetside can be repaired, but I'm not exactly sure whats wrong with it. Can you upload a few pics?

A lot of vibration that repositioning won't fix and seems the shaft has a lot of play in it. Not sure a foto would help.

So if I take a repair kit and a cover, I can use the existing nozzle and magnet, right? FWIW why do I need a new cover if not changing the magnet or frame?

If you can point me at URLs to exactly what I need to upgrade that would be great and i can order right now.

Thanks!

How do i get a tracking number for this order? Thru google checkout I get no info and no one answers the phones at ecotech.

Thx

Poor customer service

Poor customer service

So according to Google checkout my order STILL has not shipped from last Monday.

Anyone at Ecotech care to comment on this or pick up the phone when I call in?

And before anyone blames the storms I don't think there were weather issues last Friday when I tried.

Not what I have been lead to expect at all....

I apologize for the delay, but you have to understand that our offices are closed on the weekend and as SkullV reminded, an unexpected snow storm left our office without power. I'd like to get this taken care of, but I'll need you to provide me with your order information so I can provide further details. Please contact me directly at the number below and I'll be sure to answer any questions you might have.

Blake,

The MP40 Maintenance kits are no longer available as we no longer manufacture the older style MP40 wetside. That said, you can purchase a new QuietDrive style MP40 wetside which is compatible with your existing dryside.

Will there be a maintenance kit for the new wetside?

The reason I ask is because these two of mine have been running since 2007 without a hiccup and just now looking to refurbished the wetside. Except that one time the dry side fell in the sump and I quickly rinsed it out with freshwater and stripped it down and replaced the bearings.

Anyway thanks for the quick response!

It is somewhat disturbing that options to repair older models are removed from our accessibility. As much as I love my vortech's, this would make me entertain alternate manufacturers that don't force new sales.

OP you can always send it to Ecotech and they will service/repair it.

The only powerhead I can think of that I can go back and get parts for older than this is a maxi-jet or a hagen. Even then the maxi is made by a completely different company now.

Anyway, if all else fails I'll just get a new wet side. I should have snagged a couple kits when they were available.

I find it funny that the Vortechs are one of the "in" pumps to have right now, and I have had mine running non-stop since before they were cool 8 years ago! Or maybe that is they were SO cool no one in my area was brave enough to spend that much on a single "powerhead".

Love my Vortechs.

I think it is pretty disturbing as well that parts are no longer available for a pump that is still widley used and now we are forced to by a new wetside or by elsewhere. And no parts for the new QD wetside are listed on the site either.
