MP40 Settings for Soft Corals

Hello,

I have a soft coral dominant tank with a few LPS. The tank is a Reefer 350. What settings on the pump would you recommend for this system? Currently I have some Leathers, Xenia, Torch, and some Zoas. I will be adding more Zoas, GSP, Anthelia, and Kenya Tree the end of this week. I was using Reefcrest with 2 MP40s on each end of the tank, but the Torch wasn't as happy and neither was the Xenia. The leathers don't seem to mind regardless of what I do. I'm on Lagoon now and that seems a little better. I'm looking for opinions so please help if you can. Thanks!

I don't think anyone can answer this in an exact setting because everyone's tank, aquascape and powerhead placement is different.

I would start on a more conservative setting and then over a couple weeks slowly ramp it up. I try and find the setting that allows me the most flow possible that please the corals and fish in my tank. Corals will usually let you know when they are unhappy.... visually they don't look nearly as vibrant when they are unhappy with something.

Soft corals don't need an insane amount of flow, so you should see them flow back and forth is a calm and smooth fashion. If they are being bashed by a sudden surge of water you need to back off the flow, or move the coral/powerhead.

This is great advice, there no magic flow speed, as stated, every box is different.
