Just had a quick question. I've noticed that my MP40's have a pretty decent amount of shaft wobble when they're on feed mode (Probably only notice it because it's slowed). Is this normal, or should I look into it. Thanks!
Today the aforementioned MP40 that was wobbling, when put into feed mode, makes a TERRIBLE loud squealing noise. Almost like a car with messed up AC belts. It can be heard upstairs in the house. Is it time for me to contact customer support?

I would try removing the wetside and giving it a very good cleaning. Start by disassembling the unit then soaking in a 50/50 hot water and vinegar solution.
This is what has worked for me when it starts getting out of control with noise. Slowly maneuver the wet side around when it is running in the tank to find the sweet spot with the propeller/shaft alignment until the least amount of noise (you should also be able to feel it as well). Occasionally you will need to do this if it slides slightly off alignment. You should only have to move it around millimeters at most.
I've had various Vortechs for over 5 years, and the insane squealing noise, audible throughout the whole house, and akin to worn belts on a car, is what is worrying me. This is exponentially louder then the normal hum of them. I'll keep an eye on it.
Check the plastic nut on prop.
My wetside is 3 months old and it made a squel and stopped.somehow the plastic nut either losened or skipped a thread cuz its stripped now.
Hi Bbecher,
I've been having the same issue on and off, has anything helped for you? I have tried multiple things, cleaned them and repositioned many times. I'm in the same situation as you.. been using mp40's for 5years with no issues really.. the occassional hum and repositioning but these two new mp40's we purchased for our new tank (2014) setup has been nothing but issues. Have you fiddled with taking the whole wet side apart? Curious because I am tempted to but just not sure what I am supposed to be replacing.. Best of luck!
