MP40wQD doesnt spin at all... help

I have two MP40wQD (wetside and driver are upgraded, dry side is older MPw40.

The master set to reefcrest(yellow) and slave is anti-sync (orange).

The pump that is set to anti-sync keeps not spinning. The control still shows orange with no indication that it isn't working. I've cleaned it out very good, and its also only a few months old so there's no issues with calcium or anything. Usually when a pump doesnt work, I see red or green or some other colors.

Sometimes if I plug it off and plug it back in, it will spin for a few hours or a few days, but then it does the same thing.. just acts as if its not plugged in.

Any ideas?

I just unplugged the reef-crest one and plugged it back in, and now the one that wont spin just started spinning again... Let's see how long this works for...

Also, both "W" in the drivers are illuminated.

Check the white ceramic shaft for damage near the base......yes I know its not that old. My ceramic shaft had damage and small chipping and it caused the pump to spin intermittently or not at all. Did you take it ALL apart and clean it good with a toothbrush? You really got to get into every nook and cranny. The wet side comes apart in several pieces. Check for any tiny snails if you have any. Mine did the same..... Ecotech sent me out new wet side. Ceramic shaft was bad.

Thanks for the reply. The white shaft looks flawless. I took the pump apart again and its super clean. Well, its working right now but who knows when it will stop. I emailed support. Hopefully they can get to bottom of this.

I've had a similar problem on an old MP60 wet side which is similar to the MP40QD wet side.
My understanding is that in normal operation the white ceramic shaft is fixed to the steel rod and the propeller rotates around it on a thin layer of reef safe grease and water. In my case 1) The grease was gone and more importantly the propeller was seized to the ceramic shaft. The ceramic shaft then started rotating on the steel part, but not consistently. The end result was the steel shaft being worn down and the entire assembly sticking after a couple hours. You should see if your ceramic bushing is rotating with the impeller, or is fixed.

My solution was to take it all apart, clean it out, then super glue the ceramic shaft to the steel shaft. My second attempt at this has held up for the past several months, but I have a spare wet side on the shelf in case it fails again.
