i have an old MP40WWD and want to upgrade the driver to QD, will this work? will i be able to get the all the benefits just if i would buy a brand new MP40WQD pump? or do i have to upgrade the wet and dry sides to get all the benefits of a QD?

You are able to upgrade any version of the MP40 to the new MP40wQD. That said, you will have all the same modes and features as a new MP40wQD, except for the increased flow associated with new MP40wQD pumps.
