MP60's and Sand

Anyone running fine grain sand and MP60's? Considering a shallow sandbed in my new setup, but concerned about sandstorms.

Any input or ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!

I have 2 MP60's on my 400 72x36x36 - 400 lbs of Ocean Direct Oolite ultra fine, I have very little sand movement

I have a 76 gallon with 2 mp10's with sugar fine sand and it does blow around a little. My system is 2 years old, if your looking for crystal clear water i don't think you'll get it.

hmm this is odd ! I had 2 MP40s in my 65 G and no sand storm !

move them higher ?

Sorry for slow response guys.....Tank dimensions are 72"Lx48"Wx24"H....The overflow is external on 1 end of the tank, and 2 of the MP60's are mounted roughly 11"-12" above the bottom of the tank. The 3rd additional MP60 is mounted on the other end, but higher up on the tank......

How far do you actually have them down in the tank.......

I agree move them higher and you should be ok..but not all the way to the top or they will start sucking air

about 18-20 inches

Place them higher in the tank with a slight angle and adjust accordingly

Chris. Checkout thread 1250 gallon sps system by hedgedrew. Thats me. I have 2 of those babes on the side one high and one low and look at my sand. Nice and white and some movement but not too much. Or go to sps forum. Thread is what you think. Bat least one or both of those threads shows those from the side and i think your ok.
