Finally got a giant hawk again? Looks great!, how big is it? Yeah, where did you get it from? (NM, Atlantis!)

i have been doing quite a bit of searching and had a number of places saying they would look for one - but nothing ever came through. So I decided I would just go for this one - obviously healthy and (although larger than I would like to start with) exactly the species i wanted.

In fact, even though the c. pinnulatus is more colorful, I bought the stocky hawk to 'tide me over' till i found the giant hawk. Now I have both! trying to decide today how i want to house all these buggers. I pulled my 100 out of the garage (that didn't last long :p) and am putting a fresh coat of paint on it for (probably) the stocky hawk, the undulated, and the fimbriated. And keep the larger tank for the giant and everybody else. omg i need a 12 step group.

DAN, I just couldn't help myself - this thing is awesome. I think everybody has a fish they just have to have, and for some reason that is this fish for me. oh, and it is between 12-12.5 inches.

thanks lisa! fishbase says 60cm max size and it is 30cm now. if i recall the females are smaller by a couple of inches - so i imagine in either case it will grow a couple more.

two biggest photos i have found

I hope you at least ate that fish.

Thats not T-T-T in the pic. Pic is from a saltwater flyfishing site.

Sweet hawk man. Seen him at Atlantis for a while...think they had him at 14" right? Beautiful color. If the giant hawks are anything like the small guys, personality is great.

Happy Bday as well. :D
