Mr. eel's going to a new home tomorrow! I've been holding him for my dad in a little 20 gallon. He'll sure be happier in a 120gallon tank! I wish he wasn't so shy, except when I'm feeding him of course.

"Hi there! Got any food!"

I love his markings.

Just wanted to show him off before he leaves! :D

Is that a black-edged moray? It looks just like the one I got as a cute little baby. In a few years it grew into one of the most aggressive animals I've ever owned (even though it never exceeded three feet!)
The only animal I've ever had that scared me (and I have other eels, venomous fish, triggers, etc.)

We thought it was an oscillated moray which may be the same thing as a black-edge. He's not aggressive at all. He's actually afraid of that coral banded! I hope he doesn't turn into a huge terror! Does yours go after fish?

Mine was cute and shy when I first got it. As it matured, it became extremely aggressive and came out of the water after my hand. I could not keep any fish with it, it shredded tankmates. It was constantly in a feeding frenzy. I was SO happy when I found (after a year) a pet store that would take it. Read the description in Reef Fishes volume 1 on the temperament. This is one of the most aggressive eels I ever saw, even though it is pretty and never got very big.

Can you say SPECIES TANK?

Gorgeous eel--I would keep it.....alone in the tank with a strong top to protect my fingers!

this eel may be different, but mine was not one I even wanted to keep in a species tank. it was VERY aggressive. I love the eels I have - a much mellower zebra moray and Brazilian dragon moray.
