MR2 skimmer owners

Anybody have pics of mr2 in perfect working order. not sure if I have mine set right, If I set mine 2-4 above the black box, my foam never seems to break over, and if does I get super dry foam, but very little of it. I have one of the original models, and I`m running 2 mag 1100`s in the sump, my water level is about 8 in, give or take an inch. I just dont much in the collection cup unless I run it super wet, lighter than the coler of tea.
Oh yes, the airvalve is wide open, seems to work best for Me.
Any help will be very highly appreaciated.

You're using Mag drives for the skimmer? I wouldn't use them, they're junk, you need a good pressure rated pump to run these, like a BL 55 which is what I'm running a recirc MRC 2R to drive both becketts. Works very well.

I have no room for an external pump in my stand, I`m not crazy about the mags either, but you got to do what you got to do.

That I cant do, Its the old style, therefore the becket cant be remove, its in permanent. What I do once a month, is take the whole injecter assembly out, put it in a bucket with vinegar and aim a powerhead at the inlet and run it for a couple of ours, after I do that, my airflow is excellent.

SDguy, did you ever run your skimmer with only one injector? if so how much of an improvement did adding the second one make.

thanks for your reply, I have only one injector , If I run my water level that low in the skimmer, I would never get any skimmate. Normally I have to run the water level, at beginning of the 2nd riser, to get any anything, I just dont think I`m getting the proper amount.

That's what the gate valve is for on the outlet of the skimmer. Simply close it some to raise the water level in your skimmer. In fact, at least with this model MRC2, I think the max sump water level is only 10" or so (assuming your skimmer is sitting at the same level as your sump, like mine), so I'm not actually that low.

SDguy, Thank you for your help, Maybe I just didn`t explain myself correctly. On my skimmer I set the water level using the gate valve, to the beginning of the 2nd riser, that is where my skimmer seems to work its best, I know that is high, but I just dont know what else to do. Maybe I should just get another skimmer, I had MRc2 for a few years, and I`ve been anything but happy with it. I think I`m about to surrender.

do you by chance have a pic of the skimmer with where your water level is. so I can compare it to mine. ( Meaning the max sump water level.) Thanks

dabears, I think what you need to do is either swap the pump out for a nice pressure rated pump, or just keep raising the water level until you can get skim.
