Mrc mr2 and pcx55 FS

Hey Guys, I am getting rid of my MRC MR2skimmer. It is in great shape, has the optional quick release to clean it easier. Very nice skimmer. Works very well with the pcx55. Cost with pump would be $484 at mrc. I will take $250 for pump and skimmer. I will get a pic up tomorrow.

Here are some pics of the skimmer. Sorry for the delay my camera broke so I had to do this with my iPhone.

the $250 price does include the pcx 55 as well. I dont have it out of the system yet though. I will get a pic up of it when I can.

I was reading on the website that the MR2 is good for up to 300 gallons. I'm wondering if that is realistic and if that takes into account the 2nd injector (which it doesn't look like you have)? Or were you running this on something that size? I also read you can extend the tube, which I assume you would need to do if you added a second injector. I've no experience with MRC's, so I'm not up on them.

I want to eventually upgrade the skimmer on the 270 I just set-up and it seems like this might be a good way to do it, but I haven't had a chance to do my research on skimmers for this size range. I've heard nothing but good things about MRC's though.

I guess what I'm saying is, I'm interested, but need to figure out the details.

Also, you don't need a smaller skimmer (Euro-Reef ES80) or other equipment for something in a smaller size range (say around 90-110 gallons)? I know your selling your big guy, so I imagine not, but I figured it can't hurt to ask.

It worked great on mine. They are easily upgradeable as well which is a great feature. You can get the extension tubes to make them taller and handle more if you need it. I never found that to be the case so I left it as is. If i did anything I was going to get another injector. I cant remember how much it raises the rating on it it but it was like another 100 gallons or so. That is actually why I started with this one so i could grow if i needed too. I dont really need anything right now as I am cutting way back. The money is actually going into my car in the pic. I have been working on it and I am considering getting a parts car.

Ive got an mr2r (taaaaaaaaaad bit overkill, but hey, it was a good deal). Its the best skimmer I've seen. Pulls out the darkest most foul smelling stuff.

Obviously these can be installed externally, but let me ask how people go about ensuring that the skimmer does not overflow the container and create a flooding problem. I've not run external, so I never really paid a lot of attention to it. I'm guessing that is what the container in the picture is all about Chris? The pressure from the water draining out of the skimmer cup will push water into the second drain tube when the container fills and back into your sump?

I'm thinking about putting this thing in a cabinet next to the tank and trying to build it with the mindset of ultimate options for when I decide to change my set-up (always tinkering). So, Chris, I'm wondering how tall that thing is with the extension.

I guess I need to open the fish fund and determine how much butt kissin' I'm going to have to do...

Actually that's one of the big benefits of running a beckett. You can run an auto shutoff collection container. A ping pong ball floats to the top when the container is full and shuts off the air to the skimmer. You can make one for ~ $10.
It's equivalent to an MR3 with the extension....... ~ 32 "
My extension is 8". You can get a 12" one as well or add 2 together etc...
Chris
