MRC Skimmers

Hey,

I'm looking for a skimmer for a new tank... does anyone in the club use MRC or have any imput about them.

I'm looking at the:

MR-2R

or the MR-4

It'll be for around a 120gallon tank... thanks for any imput.

I use Precision Marine Bullet 2 Skimmer, which is like the Twin brother skimmer to the MRC. I have very good result with my PM Bullet skimmer. Also you might want to check out the Mr-1 or Mr-2 skimmer. I think the Mr-4 is way too much for a 120g (I know the bigger the better). Any way hope that help, if you want to you are more than welcome to stop by my house to check out the skimmer.

I got a Lifereef for my 120 about 3 months ago. I'm very happy with it (I actually got the entire Sump system) Customer support is great and it seems to pulling out plenty of junk. I got a VS2-24. I think its rated up over 200 gallons.

I have an MR-2 and have no problems with it. My suggestion is to make sure you get the strongest pump you can afford...I have PCX-55 on mine (the recomended one) and it works great. If possible set your skimmer up so it is above the sump, if it's in the sump, the water level will have some affect on its performance. Thanks guys... I only thought of the MR-4 since I dont know how big my sump will be and that way I wont have to buy another skimmer if I set up a larger tank in the future... or if I want to hook a frag tank up eventually.

I was looking at the bullet skimmers too... I'd love to see some of these working. They seem to work different than the euroreef I'm using.

Keep in mind that with the MR-2 you can upgrade to an MR-3 by adding a another injector and additional tower.

I dont know anything about skimmers really, whats an injector?
