MTRC Meeting Sat. Aug. 9 --> 3:30 – 6:00 pm

Moriah and I should be there.

Great! I've never had anybody over who knows anything about reef tanks since I first got my live rock 4 years ago, so I'm looking forward to some analysis. Cathy (spouse) thinks I'm a great success because I haven't had a major salt water spill in years.

My husband and I are considering joining MTRC but had a question about the meetings. I'm not sure how many we'd really be able to attend, but for those that we do, we may not be able to find a sitter for our 5 year old. Would it be a problem to bring him with?

Welcome to the MTRC forum, Milnita!

In general there is no problem at all to bring your son :)

I'll let Howard chime in about this specific meeting, but I can't imagine it would be a problem at all.

I have brought my kids to a lot of the meetings it just depends on where it is. I know all the fish store ones the kids love and we had a event at the aquarium restaurant that kids had fun. BTW welcome and we would love to have you as a member I will tell you it pays to join we have all different't kinds of raffles and free stuff that members get. I got a bucket of salt at the AC meeting and one person got a vortex pump$$. That alone will pay for many years membership.

it was beautiful day indeed! Wayne offered to trade his bucket of salt for the pump. Luckily I had already been informed what the Vortec was exactly. ;)

Welcome Milnita! Look forward to meeting the fam at the meeting.

Glad to see ya posting, Millie! :)

I assume the cannister filter made it to you ok? :)

Oh, and not only does Wayne bring kids, he's pretty much a kid himself. :)

Sure, no problem, as long you take him/her home after the meeting. We won't be available to sit that evening.

:D

Hello Howard...

I would love to attend the meeting if you have room for one more. This will be my first meeting! Actually i did attend only one at the critter about a year and a half ago.

So, how do these meetings work? Do we bring any sort of refreshments or anything? Just let me know if you need me to contribute in any way.

Thanks!

Jack <-- another one

I think you just show up, put on a name tag (I'm very needy in this area), try not to let my dogs get past you in the doorway, and we just hang out. If you have any serious, technical reef questions, well, that's why I invited everyone else.

No need to bring anything. We'll have some snacks. Welcome!

As Brian mentioned, we will be there, but I will be late. I have to work that morning and will be getting done about the time it starts. I should be there shortly after though.

Yep, we got it. Haven't done anything with it yet, but plan to. We have Dory in QT right now for ich, so she's taken quite a bit of our "spare" time. We haven't been able to spend much time getting anything else done... :)

I am so sorry HowardCath but I will have to cancel for the meeting. I have to go out of town and will miss it. I am so sad :-(

Is it your employer? Do they not understand the importance of our reef meetings? We'll miss you.

No its not the employer, because as of 8-8 I will be layed off. :-( AT&T decided that my job was no longer important along with about 8 others in my office. But my Grandparents are having a family meeting. They are not saying what its about. I am the oldest Grandchild so I have to be there to represent the Grandchildren they say. Kinda making me nervous actually. They live in West Tennessee so I will be gone all weekend. I am so upset I will miss this one. I love the meetings, and I havent missed one since I joined.

Sorry to hear about the job. Hope the family meeting goes well. Unfortunately, the oldest usually has extra responsibilities. See you next time!

I will try to make it. I am on call for the weekend and will able to attend as long as no planes break. Will have to go to work if they do.
