MTRC Meeting Sat. Aug. 9 --> 3:30 – 6:00 pm

Well... turns out my graduation is supposed to end around noon and then off to lunch at Demos' ... depending on what we do after that I MAY be able to make it. :)

I'll try! I really want to. A great way to end a graduating afternoon. :D

Brandon

Hope Brandon can make it.

Brian, I'm old enough to have get up in the middle of the night. Guess you're young enough to still be up at 04:06 AM ?

Does anyone have a couple, few gallons of RO water they could give me? I am really low of funds and need to topoff. Thanks!

Thanks for the water Jack. Everyone in the tank is much happier.

Great meeting Howard, you are a rebel! The brisket hit the spot! Great company, great photos and great looking tank. Fun to meet more people in the club.

Thanks for coming over, everyone.

Now that you've seen the set-up, do you think my brain (favites, I think) is dying because my nitrates are often elevated in my skimmerless environment? Do you think a skimmer might really improve my overall setup, if I'm happy with the mostly softies, few LPS and small number of SPS that I'm trying to keep? I don't know how much effort skimmers are to maintain. I don't know how much they might remove that my softies like. For whatever reason, I'm not having much of any algae problem. Do you think I should avoid trying to keep a favites or favia brain, if this one succumbs in my present setup?

Brian & Moriah, your homemade rootbeer has a nice solid taste! Really good. Thanks.

Howard -- what I would try first is:

1) get it some more flow. It looked like it was in relatively low flow.
2) check your calcium and alkalinity. With the addition of more critters that utilize both to form their skeletons, my bet is those levels are lower than you would like to see them.
3) if the ca/alk are low -- slowly correct the problem.
4) for now, I think I would stop dosing iodine.

Those would be the items I would start with :)
