Seems ther eis an issue at the hosting provider. I have created a ticket to get it cleared up, but it looks as though the hosting account status is in question. I have asked Chuck if he has closed his account. Will keep everyone posted.

Thanks for the heads-up.

If for some reason a new hosting provider is needed...have we considered "Big Daddy" or similar?

Also, I like the format that East TN is using, it's fast, well organized, and has all the core info. Perhaps we just abandon the forum portion on there and just reference here or other locations for forum type stuff, like they've done.

Wonder if their hosting provider is free, anyone know? Might be worth asking them who they use.

I have several Hosting providers I use that we can get an account on. I will move it one if need be. Siteground is probably where if I ahve to move it, but I need access to our original site for the most recent data. I have backups there and will need to access them.

I ahve seen East Tn;s site. They use a blog engine for it, wordpress if I recall. I run several wordpress sites and it is ok..and they do have forums btw :)

As far as forums go, here gives us no ability to post club member only information, as well as we have no control to our access and are governed by other's, so having a forum for club sensitive or club only information is still necessary to have available.

I hope we can move, I am not sure about anyone else, but the site is really slow for me. probably the slowest website I've visited.

The ETRC website is hosted by Globat and is relatively cheap. Andy, you are correct on Wordpress. I just found it easier for the club to use that engine. It didn't have to be too elaborate.

Hosting is not a problem. I will move it to site ground.

I am trying to coordinate getting the account turned back on. It is not in my name and is in another members name. Once it is back on hopefully I can get my backups and restore the site. Had no warning the account was expiring as my login was not administrative.

Update

We have made a lot of progress. I have all our site data and control of our DNS. I got the hosting provider to let me change the plan to gain access and just need to confer with Justin befor paying them some back pay, Then I can move it.

Thanks to Chuck and Wayne for their quick responses to me today.

Just in case you haven't noticed the club site is back up. the account issue has be taken care of.

Tonight I will taek down the current site and move it to siteground, where I am getting us a 90% savings in hosting for the next year, and faster egress.

Ok, final update.

the site has been recovered and moved to a new provider. the old provider wanted 120 bucks for the year. My preferred provider allowed me to add MTRC as a friends and family plan for 90% off...10 bucks for the year. So thats a savings of 110 dollars for hosting over the next 12 months.

The site should also be performing faster. I ahve noticed a speed difference. Is this just wishful thinking on my part? Please let me know, especially those of you who claimed it was very slow, what the experience is as far as speed goes...I know some folks want to change the graphics....that is a seperate project. Maybe I can persuade the baord to approve some expense becasue of the hosting savings :-)

Cheers!
