Multibanded pipefish

why are they hard to keep?
food requirements? if so i think if you have the dedication to take care of their feeding needs they shouldn't be terribly difficult

ive noticed whenever something is difficult to take care of it usually is because it needs live food or very specific food

I have one of these guys and he is quite fat and happy. He takes cyclopeeze and some other small particle frozen foods. He also takes frozen mysis and whatever he can catch in the reef. Not very hard to keep IMO just somewhat hard to get a healthy specimen to start with. Bought two 1 died in short order (6 hours). Same thing happened with my dragon faces bought 2 one immediately (1-2 hours) disappeared. All in all the two of them share a 90 gallon and seem to be doing great.

Just difficult to get to take frozen foods. Some take to it really quick and some don't. If they don't take frozen quickly, and the tank doesn't have much of a pod population, you're fighting the hunger cycle, since as landlord noted, they are difficult to find in good condition.
