Multichip or Spot LED Vs single LED Pros/Cons

I was wondering what was the Pros/Cons to a spot LED such as a Kessil or DIY such as Aurora Puck vs single LEDS spread out over the fixture?

I'm planning on modifying a t5 fixture and debating whether to add a spot or a multichip vs using a few strips of single LEDs.

Only thing i can think of is maybe better spread and coverage...

I have a diy led setup with 53 3w leds about 2" between each diode and i can see quite a difference in coverage/shadows compared to a spot led type..

I also run t5ho's and the coverage on those is amazing...

The "tighter" the group the better the color mixing.. aka no disco effect
Then the "tighter" the group the less the total spread..
