I heard from another user that have more than two clowns is no good. He said this is because they will pair off and eventually fight until only two remain. Is this fact or just an occasional occurrence

It really depends IMO. How big is the tank that your thinking about doing this in?
I am not sure I agree that it is tank size dependent. I have a friend who tried it in a 500 gallon tank and it did not work well.

65 gallon well established reef tank
I have 3 pairs (darwin ocellaris/pink skunks/regular ocellaris) in a 300gallon. It's no walk in the park and took a few tries to get to 'stability'. When people say it's not recommended, they're right. If not properly planned and observed carefully, it can end up in disaster. I have regular squabbles that are very similar to tangs fighting -- things are fine most of the day with regular posturing, vocal chatter, fake attacks and the rare actual attack. A few things that are definite trouble.
- Aggressive species like Maroons, Tomatos, etc.
- Different sized pairs. Each needs to be able to defend it's anemone.
- Attempting to move one pair to another anemone.
- Proximity to each other.
Possible - Yes. Recommended - No.

Thank you for the advice..what is the best anemone or the one you would recommend.
My progression was bubble tip, haddoni carpet and two giganteas. They're all still alive and in the same tank. A big issue in reef tanks is anemones wandering including into pumps and power heads. Bubble tips are probably the easiest of clownfish hosts but not all clowns will accept them.
Mine does the same thing when he comes to the front of the tank and starts yelling at me to give him food.
