multiple clownfish help

Current tank has a small false perc along with a yellow striped maroon clown. We picked up the pair of clowns in a package deal when we bought a tank off off of another party. The two clowns get along fine. I have a smaller tank with a single false perc in it. I am tearing down the small tank and added the per to the other tank...I am relatively new to the hobby and was hoping to get input about three clowns in the same tank. Any help would be appreciated.

First off, you've been VERY lucky thus far. Is the maroon smaller or at least equal the size of the perc? They are one of the most (if not the most) aggressive of all clownfish. Unless you're dealing with a very large tank (180+), I've never seen where it's recommended to put a Maroon with ANY other clownfish. It's hard enough to get a pair of Maroons to get along, let along with another type.

I would highly suggest not adding another, and potentially get ready to move the Maroon to another residence (or move the perc depending on which you want to keep) in the future.

Note, just my opinion, and it is always possible that yours are somehow extremely rare and unique. Understand though, that is not at all the norm and quite frankly you should brace for an emergency evacuation at any time.

The maroon and small perc have been housed in the same tank for quite some time...year and a half or so. The maroon is actually bigger than the perc. I'm assuming that the perc is male due to the lack of consistant growth in relation to the maroon. The false perc being added is actually bigger than both of the other clowns. After about a half an hour, the two percs appeared to be getting along great. as for the maroon, he just appeared to be unphased by any new addition.

In addition to the last post, I was also very suprised that the mix of clowns were getting along the way that they did when I fist arrived to pick up the tank. I always thought that it wasn't good to mix the different breeds of clowns for that particular reason
