So I am thinking I want to get about 4 or 5 clownfish for my 150 gallon reef tank and wanted to know if there is any downside to doing so. If not, is there anything I should know before I buy them?
Since posting this thread, I found the Clownfish & Anemone FAQ Sticky and it explained everything I needed to know. Maybe I will just get a pair of clownfish.
The answer to your question is mostly answered there, and it was only 5 posts or so below the thread you created. That question has been answered many times, you can most likely find more comprehensive answers using the search function.
In general more than one clown fish is ill advised, although you can possibly get away with multiple juveniles that will eventually form a pair and leave the other three inactive sexually.
But without the proper hiding places (in general anemone) it is substantially harder. If they all have their own space than it is easier to accomplish.
