Just picked up two Aqueon Evolution 8 tanks I plan on modifying for use as nano tanks. I want to drill the bottom of the tanks under the back filter section and install two 1/2 inch bulkheads for the intake/return lines to the refugium unit I am installing under each tank. Can I drill this tank, if so, what type of drill bit do I need and can I use a cordless drill for this? If not, what type of tool(s) do I need to make two holes without damaging the tank? How do I prep the tank for drilling?
I also just purchased a 29 gal. bio-cube. I want to add a refugium under this tank as well but I don't want to modify the case at this point. Can I use the pump provided to pump water to the remote refugium and use another pump for the return? I figure I can use the filter as recommended by the manufacturer and add the refugium as well. The only issue I see is getting the flow rate from both pumps synced up. Couldn't I just install valves on both intake and returns and adjust the flow that way?
