Mushroom Attachment

OK, I looked in my tank today and noticed one of my blue mushrooms just floating around so I thought I better grab it before it sucked into one of the powerheads. So I grabbed it and attached it to a piece of rock with a rubber band, now it's shrunk up and doesn't look very good. Did I do the wrong thing with the rubber band? Is there a better way to attach to a piece of rock?

You can also try taking a piece of rock and the mushroom out of the water, drying both off with a paper towel and using a little crazy glue.

another is take a piece of fishing line, poke it through it twice, and gently tie it around a piece of rubble.

get a small plastic cup (deli containers work great) put gravel on the bottom of it place the mushroom in the cup in a low flow area in about a week or 2 the mushroom will atach (hopefully) to the gravel. You an then superglue the gravel with mushroom atached anywhere you like in the tank. this has worked best for me.

I have read (I have no idea where) that the super glue method doesn't work for shrooms because they secrete a substance that dissolves the superglue bond. It has never worked for me.

Shrooms are near indestructible - just jam it into a crevice in your LR!

HI
I put mine in a galss jar, like a canning jar, with gravel on the bottom, and they attached to that,im going to take them out and just set them on bigger rocks and hope they attach, just like mentioned above ive also heard of using mesh of some sort, and even toothpics but mesh is supose to be the way to go,this link is about fragging but should help

I tried super glue too and it didn't work....So just like MSU said I shoved it into a space on my rock and it attached within a day or too.....It didn't like the location I chose so it moved a few days later but is attached and doing well now...:)

Exactly, I have done the same with my Kenya tree. I have RIPPED it off of a rock twice and I have new one growing in it's spot. I did the same with some mushrooms. Good luck

I've done exactly what szwab and jasonak have done, then glued to rock with the shroom to place it in the tank. I did this with shrooms and ricordea, it's now my "standard procedure."

Wedding veil attached loosely w/ a toothpick works like a charm. You can find wedding veil at most craft stores.

Depending on whether you are fragging them or not it takes a week or so for a loose shroom to a month for a frag.

My favorite way because it is the easiest is just to spear the shroom with a toothpick and insert the toothpick in hole in a rock then a week later remove the toothpick. It has to be in a low flow area and you have to find just the right hole or the toothpick will fall out. But it's super easy.

you can put it in a deli cup with a small piece of lr and let it attach by itself in a week or two. Just cut small holes in the lid and sides of the cup to allow for just a tad of water circulation inside the cup.

the super glue method wont work on most softies, the slime that they are producing is from stinging you. the best method is the cheese cloth from walmart about .08 cents. thanks fish
