Mushroom control

Hi,

Does anyone have any tips on how to control an exploding mushroom population? I have two different types of species in my tank and they are growing like crazy, and expanding everywhere. Same story with my E quad BTAs (brown). I'd like to get other things in there.

What methods do folks use to control the mushrooms?

Cheers,
BK

I've nuked them with Joe's Juice before. It takes a couple of times injecting them but it did work eventually.

Hmm, never thought of that. Would vinegar work? I use that for aiptasia control.

Also, since the mushrooms are that much bigger than aiptasia, would I need to worry about "bad" chemicals being released into the water from the dead/dying mushrooms?

If you just want to get them out of the tank, most LFS will buy from you. Mine pays $2 per shroom. If you want to kill them, a little hit of vinegar will do the trick.

I have just the opposite problem I cant get mine to spread, I have a chocolate and 2 green mushrooms and they refuse to spread whats the deal?

Mine didn't do a darn thing for over 1.5 years. Then over the last year, it's been going nuts. I haven't changed anything. Lights are the same (changed once a year), water params more or less the same.

What kind of light do you have? Are they in the shade?

442w on a 46 gallon, MH and PC lighting

Chocolate is somewhat in the shade and the greens are out in the light but deep in my tank, they both look like they are doing great just not spreading...

Mine don't seem to care where they are but they do like iodine.
I trade mine to the LFS mostly. If you can bury them in the sand on what ever they are attached to. Don't do to many at one time.
